About this
site
This
website came out of a university ICT project, in which the
objective was to produce an interactive online learning resource
covering an area of the primary curriculum for use in the
classroom. It is intended to support teachers of Year 2
children with QCA history Unit 5 "How do we know about the Great
Fire of London?" It is recommended that teachers
familiarise pupils with the navigation of the site prior to them
using it independently.
The
site I have produced has been extensively researched by
myself and evaluated by a class of Year 2 children and their
class teacher. It was produced in Microsoft Front Page 2003, and is suitable for use on Microsoft
Explorer 5, 6 and 7, and also in Mozilla Firefox. I am currently working on making the site compatiable with Google Chrome. Whichever
browser you do use however, please ensure it is enabled for both
pop-ups and JavaScript. I have also
tested the site it for accessibility, and produced text-only versions of
most pages. Because of the visual nature of the page however, I
have not produced a text-only page for the clickable
interactive map of London.
Any
comments or ideas for lesson activities using this site would
be greatly appreciated.
